Tunnel Vision

The narrow view

Closed eyes, minds, hearts.
What a sheltered life one must lead
when in the face of a war torn world.
Where life the most precious is
snuffed out in the name of being right.
That your sensibilities are more
concerned with the relationship
between two beings you do not know.

How lovely it must be to wear the
blinders that allow you to only
tunnel vision through life.
How honored you must feel to be
your faith's acolyte spouting
the need of control so that
your soul gets into an uptight afterlife...
I fear I can never be so blessed.

In a world where my fellow creatures
are tortured, homeless, hungry and scared.
Where men make war in the name of their gods,
where equality is shouted but not followed.
In a beautiful world restricted by borders,
by beings who have a slipping grip
on the power they so greatly crave.
Who use fear, drive hate, to claim
the right to lead the ignorant masses.
Beings who clamor to the feeling
of superiority, even with
ever present stupidity.

The sheep are dying,
the shepherds too corrupt to lead.
The green pasture has been fracked.
The maiden weeps, her freedom was
never a guarantee. Her body still
the source of conflict, debate,
her source of help DE-funded by those
who think they are saving lives.
But in reality their narrow mentality
has doomed more than they can fathom.

This is the world I see,
this is the horror we live.
This is why it perplexes me,
that most get hung up on a love
they cannot see.

But then again maybe it is just me?

More thoughts to come...
