The Danger of a Trump America

I have no place in an America run by men like Donald Trump.

And if you believe you do I truly feel sorry for you. In his narcissistic rise to claim the Republican presidental nomination he has repeatedly insulted and offended Americans in all walks of life from the Blacks and Mexicans, Muslims and Jewish, Disabled and Women. He even called his own followers uneducated, and insulted the party he now is representing. While to many of us his rise to candidacy is a virtual phenomenon. It speaks in volumes of the reality tv driven garbage that has infected our society.  Trump's campaign has been quite a show, the visual junk food that rules our television airways regularly. Fueled with Jerry Springer style fights, racist chants, and over the top antics that would have crushed any serious politician's run, but instead endears Trump to his followers with smaltzy glitz that truly is all flash and no substance.

But when you peel back the flashy layers, the rhetoric that "he is shaking up the system" or "just telling it like it is..." When you truly open your eyes and mind to what he "stands for," Trump's message is a very scary one. His America is a place for people like himself. One myself and many other Americans have no place in. In fact Trump's whole premise is he alone can control our country and make things great. Out of the mouth of anyone else they would be mocked, ridiculed, and certainly not a serious contender for president.

Lets look at his latest blunder, calling a speech made by the parents of a fallen American soldier an "attack" on himself that he needed to respond to. And he did respond very insultingly on Twitter and in that infuriating interview with George Stephanopoulos where he claims his sacrifice was providing jobs and being successful. This man went after the mother of a fallen solider attacking her grief on stage as being quiet due to her faith...

The lack of empathy shown by Trump was astounding. But the worse was yet to come, his followers took to social media and comservative talk and tv shows questioning the loyalty of fellow Americans likening them to terrorists. I cannot stress how dangerous this way of thinking is.

On twitter I took the hash tag #TrumpDebateExcuses to call out Donald Trump's racist followers. I received a lot of comments from frothing Trump fans, mostly slamming Hillary Clinton, and asking me for examples of Trump's racism, which is clearly documented. In his own words a judge who is of Mexican Heritage is bias against him in the Trump University lawsuit. That "school" Trump used to duped thousands of people out of money via empty promises. This is a man who his followers believe truly represent them and that in itself is very dangerous. They are so swayed by fear and Islamaphobia that they willingly back his complete disrespect of a gold star family. And join the attacks like a lynch mob.

In Trump's world and in the eyes of his followers there are two types of Americans. In their mind true Americans are gun touting, apple pie loving, Christian and White. It is them versus the rest of  us, who are of different cultural backgrounds, faith, gender and sexual orientation.

They harken back to days where Americans like us where just an abnormal backdrop. Where females are an inferior species, blacks were segregated, homosexuals and Transgender classified as mentally ill. Where it was ok to place Asians in interment camps and tell Natives their culture was wicked while killing them and taking their lands. In their America we were allowed to exist only as housewives, servants or slaves, and if we dare ask for equal rights we were met with being called trouble makers or worse.

Sadly even in a day and age where the world itself can be accessed by our literal fingertips, we still have those so invested in xenophobic thought and racial and religious purity, that they will go down fighting versus any change that brings humanity together.

They claim to be for Jesus a prophet whose whole life was devoted to loving his fellow man no matter what walk of life they come from. They revere him as the Messiah yet ignore his very message. In there chants of make America great again lays the more twisted thoughts that resides in their hearts and minds. The lack of respect of fellow Americans even ones who give their lives for their freedom to hate others who are different.

Most of these people will never show the same bravery as Humayun Khan. Most will hopefully never know the pain of such a deep loss that his family and other militaty families suffer from. They will continue to back a man with out an ounce of respect for our Armed forces. A man who mocked POW'S when he insulted Senator John McCain calling him not a real hero and a loser for being captured. They will instead blindly back a man who claims he will give them back the America that tells them they are the true owners of this country.

It is a very dangerous message one we Americans who do not fit into Trump's vision need to take very serious, and hold into our hearts. We need to take it with us to the polling place in November and make sure that Trump and anyone who still believes in that version of America is shown how wrong they are.

I am an American citizen, born on this soil, whose ancestors were kicked off their lands or brutally murdered. Of Ancestors forcefully brought over on boats and called property. I am an American who supports the rights of citizens of different faiths, cultures, gender and gender identity. Who risked life and limb travelling to our shores to make a better life for their families. Who put their lives on the line in our armed forces. I stand with those who for far too long have been force fed the notion that the Red White and Blue only applies to White Christian America and who are tired of a system run by the same men who can condemn what Trump says without pulling their support due to him only saying the things they parrot behind closed doors.

I hope men like Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump realize their gamble has worked to empower people like me who are sick of being treated like we are not apart of our own country. And we all as Americans need to hold ourselves up with the same dignity Mr. And Mrs. Khan and the various other poignant speakers at the DNC displayed.

This is our country to and it is time we own and embrace this.

More thoughts to come.
